Every year someone arrives without bedding or a towel, don’t let it by YOU!
Cabins have beds but no linens: Bring twin bed sheets. pillow and blanket or better yet a sleeping bag. Bring towels, wash cloth, toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste and tooth brush etc) Remember any medications, especially those for seasonal allergies.
Cell phones and other electronics: Service can be a challenge and you won’t be able to have them with you for many activities. Be aware there is no secure place to store valuables in bunk house style cabins. Only bring things you don’t mind getting dirty, wet or lost.
Home work: You’ll have very little free time.
Rain or shine, we are outside: We are at a camp ground and outside most of weekend. Keep an eye on the weather and pack accordingly. Jeans and sweats and sneakers are good. You will have the opportunity to do some climbing, so wear pants that would be comfortable for that activity. To ensure your personal comfort, check the weather forecast before you pack and if its gonna rain - bring rain gear.
SUGGESTIONS FROM THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN BEFORE: Clothes you can layer, sweat shirts, jackets, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, aloe vera, close-toed shoes, flashlight, personal essentials, extra socks ...
How do I get there? A Rotarian from your sponsoring club will transport you to and from the conference. If you haven't heard from them March 15, contact Dave Stuckey. No delegate transports themselves to or from Camp Oak Hill for RYLA.
